Let’s “build” a future together!

Let’s “build” a future together!

Have you ever wanted to get married at the beach? or maybe the Circus? What about a mystic wedding in the forest? Some sees this dream locations as difficult to find and how can you gather ALL your loved ones that live too far away at the same place? Do you feel that this fit in for you?

If yes, now there is finally a fantastic solution for your dilemma, with just few easy instruction (no pun intended) you and your partner can have your dream wedding in an easy way… online!

What the heck are you talking about Nad? Have you gone mad?

Haha no! It is easy and you can have the perfect wedding you’ve always wanted!

Beach Wedding

At IKEA, we want everyone to celebrate the love for their partner along with family and friends, even those who are far away . With our site you can get up to the wedding in a stunning setting, but it need not cost too much (www.ikea.se)

For the wedding to be valid you need a wedding officiant, two witnesses and of course a bride and a groom! Watch the video below (click on subtitles)

I’m sorry! I can’t hahaha. I was really trying to write this post with a straight face. I don’t know why I find this campaign so damn funny, haha. Talk about awkward when you think that you are invited to a real wedding and get really excited. You start to think about what outfit to wear, what shoes and jewelry will match, fix makeup, hair and when you’re done and then you get a mail with the link to the wedding ceremony. You log on your laptop and click on the link and sees this:

Wait what?!

Bride: Hey Nad! We are so glad that you could make it and attend our BIG day. You can choose where you want to sit.

Girl on the right: HEY GIRL! Long time no see! We totally have to meet up soon!

Cute guy to the right: Do you come here often? Oh sorry I’m not staring at your boobs. I’m just staring at your heart.

Older woman: Schhh!!! We all can hear you! The wedding is about to start!

Drunk guy next to the old woman: SHUT UP old woman! I can have a parrot if I want! You’re not the boss of me…

Girl on the left: OMG Lindsay, you said that you were not wearing that dress! You’re such a copycat you BITCH!

Priest: Ok enough everyone! Don’t ruin their day! Shall we begin…?

Haha wow! That would not be awkward at all, especially when ALL the guests are sitting with their laptops at home and interacting at the same time (the most awkward part is when the bride, groom and the priest sit in the same room with three different laptops.) Also imagine the wedding reception.

Groom: Thank you all for being here, let’s make a toast!

Ehm wait! So you’re saying that there is no food, no drinks, no music and no cake?! Damn it! I must see what I have in the fridge…  talk about “economical” wedding!

In all seriousness, it doesn’t matter how you get married to someone you love, as long as you know that it is the right thing for you. You can’t set a price tag on love (ok maybe you can, it depends on how you see it, but that’s not the point). I still think this was funny concept and it was fun writing this post, nothing against IKEA or anything but it made me giggle haha!

Fun times, yuppie!

Fun times, yuppie!

The purpose with this essay is to…no! This paper analyzes the… GAH!

I don’t like when you get stuck or don’t know how to begin an essay on a topic you don’t know so much about. I’m supposed to write a linguistic essay on a chosen word and analyze the it through Times Magazine Corpus Online. I selected the word Yuppie (Young Upwardly Mobile Professional Person) which was popular term through the 80’s and 90’s but I can’t find any good historical sources or other aspect other than what the word mean. If I really can’t find anything I have to change word because the paper is due Sunday along with another paper. Now you understand why I have little time for the blog, even though I want to write fun posts and check out your stuff too.

Today I decided to meet up a friend in the city, we both are studying the same course and needed an excuse to not write the essay. We went to this bakery and talked about things in life while enjoying our desserts and Coca Cola in glass bottle (Oh memories). After we took a walk along the water, my phone died so I couldn’t take any pictures of the city to share with you! If you want I can make a post about Stockholm, places to see and some hidden gems.

So now I’m trying to figure out a plan for tomorrow with the essays but my brain is too tired, better luck tomorrow maybe? Oh yeah tomorrow it’s Valborg (national holiday) in Sweden, I hope that I will have time to see the fire, take some photos and make a post about it!

Wedding, tulips and wooden shoes pt 2

Wedding, tulips and wooden shoes pt 2

Time for part two of my Amsterdam experience. Let’s see where we left off… Oh yeah the wedding!

So the next day I tried to sleep in but the kid kept on crying all morning but I was excited because this was the day I was going to explore Amsterdam and just enjoy! The host told us that her friends’ from America was coming to stay at her apartment and that we had to stay at her father’s place. The problem was that I was going to town and I couldn’t take my luggage with me and she said that I could leave it there and take it later.

Of course it’s never fun to see the city on your own and at one certain point I was really considering contacting my ex who is from the Netherlands but I found out the he had moved to Mexico to his girlfriend (yes, I missed him a lot these days but it was for the best).

Anyways, I went off to explore the city on my own! I had my dear camera with me and a map in case I would get lost but I lived near Heineken like I mentioned earlier so I had a good spot to remember. Unfortunately since I was on my own I can’t explain every building that took picture off to you guys or the “hidden” gems, but maybe next time I visit! First I went to Rijksmuseum (National museum) where the I AMSTERDAM sign and Van Gogh Museum is. It was really pretty place with all the tulips in the fountain water and everyone were jumping on the letters and taking photos, there were so many people there from all over the world. I bought ticket for the Hop-on-off bus because it was the only way I could see the whole city in few hours. I’m a bit sad that I didn’t have time for the boats through the canals.

Before getting on the bus I had to buy some souvenir’s  and I saw the cutest wooden shoes that I had to have! Someone told that I had to walk to Vondel park to get on the bus, but it was not that easy finding it, dutch people are maybe the most helpful people who I have met so I…

40 minutes later… Sorry! We just was power failure in our area so it was pitch black everywhere just as I was writing this post! Had to light up candles and wait haha. Anyways, I managed to find the bus stop and start the tour. We passed Anne Frank’s house, Wester Church, Red Light District, Windmill de Gooyer, Dam Square, Rembrandt Square, Jewish Quarter, Skinny Bridge etc.

I fell in love with the city because it was so BEAUTIFUL and it had its own character. As you can see from my pictures the city is full of trams and bikes, wow does people in Amsterdam love their bikes and they have their own traffic system. One thing I didn’t like was the smell of weed whenever I passed a coffee shop or if someone was smoking, yuck! When I was in the souvenir shop they had a section for weed with lollipops, cookies and other things, also very sex oriented items aswell with boobs and other parts.

Later one I found out that the host’s father lived at Singel (which is the by the canal and very rich people can afford to live there, yes her father was wealthy) and we were going to stay near Anne Frank’s house. It was getting dark and I passed Dam Square where I saw this “amusement park” in the middle of the city which amazed me haha, I managed to find the place at Singel. Her father lived on the top floor and you had to buzz several times to come inside the building. It felt really fancy in the hallway with the fashion pictures and only a certain elite lived there which I’m not used to. But her father’s apartment wasn’t that impressing inside (Swedes are into home interior and we have a really good living standard)  but this was minimalistic with old TV, too much empty space, holes in the sofa, messy kitchen and the apartment smelled cigar.

The father was a nice but reserved dutch man. He didn’t say much but I saw all the camera equipment and asked if he was a photographer. Bingo! found something to talk about. He started to talk about camera and showed his Hasselblad camera. Oh my goodness what a beauty of a camera, it was really cool to see such old piece of equipment! Since the father lived on the top floor I went to the roof and saw the AMAZING view of the city, I was happy that I got the chance to see that. The girls wanted to go to the spa/gym area because of them wanted to go to the sauna. There was an indoor swimming pool so I put my feet in the water while the other girl was meditating. It was so peaceful and kind of nice, I felt calm. Afterwards I was really tired so me and the girls shared the bed and fell asleep quickly.

Next morning was my last day and my flight was round 5 PM so I went to grab my bag and checked out Dam Square before heading to the airport. Overall the experience was good but of course it would have been more fun with good company of someone I like but I did the best of the situation. I really recommend you to visit Amsterdam when you have the opportunity in life. All my family and friends wants to go there now after seeing my pictures haha.  I hope you liked this post and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Have a great Friday ❤

Wedding, tulips and wooden shoes pt 1

Wedding, tulips and wooden shoes pt 1

Back to reality after a long weekend in Amsterdam. I wanted to make a post earlier but I was a bit behind with my studies and yesterday I came home 3 hours later (around 9 PM), when it actually take 20 minutes. Our train system have been really failing and making me mad these past weeks and I don’t know HOW I managed to come home, so yeah I was too tired.

How was my trip you might ask. I arrived Amsterdam 15th April and lets say that my days in Amsterdam was just ok, maybe not the best as I hoped for. It was because I stayed at my friend’s friend place who I didn’t know before and she was not the best host. She could leave the house for hours while I was sleeping (I had no keys) and she had NO food at home (she only ate organic food like nuts and fruits). I don’t want to go into details but I was thankful that I at least had a place to stay in the city (near Heineken brewery).

amsDestination: Amsterdam

I came to Amsterdam to attend my friend’s wedding which was on  April 16th and the wedding was different from what I have seen. It was a Turkish wedding and there were lots of guests in the big wedding hall. My friend had her Henna ceremony and Wedding the same day

My friend came and greeted me quickly and showed me the table, I sat with the two girls that I was staying with and one family. At the wedding they had a live band that was playing Turkish songs and they asked people to come and dance so we went to the dance floor. It was nice to experience a new culture and the dancing part was fun. I had my camera and took some picture at the wedding. We had some good food after the bride and groom cut the cake, which was not good to be honest, it was too dry and no filling. Then it was time to give gifts/money, so we had to stand in line and this man with a microphone started to say everybody’s name that gave something and spoke in Turkish.

cakeWedding cake looked better than it tasted haha

I met this sweet girl who sat next to me who started to talk to me and asked about Sweden. I didn’t notice that the other two girls had disappeared and the next thing I knew they were standing at the stairs with candles with few other girls and waiting for the bride to make and entrance for her Indian style Henna ceremony and the girls walked with her.

– Oooh thanks a lot for telling me girls!!! Bless your hearts!

9The bride sat in this at the end of wedding

Anyways the party ended at 12 AM and I was so tired since the girl I stayed at had a kid of one year who cried non-stop in the morning. A HUGE Congratulations to the newly weds! May life be full of love and happiness!!!

This was part ONE of my trip to Amsterdam so stay tuned for part TWO!

Blank mind

Blank mind

Wow I feel like my head is on another planet right now! I have been really busy the past 2-3 days and I’m still in stress because I have a paper that I have to be done with before 3:00 PM tomorrow. I still need to pack for my trip to Amsterdam and I need to arrange everything before that. Does this make sence?

I just wanted to update you guys that there might not be posts until after Sunday when I come back home, we will see if I have any time or wi-fi.  I hope you guys will have a wonderful week/weekend and I might do a quick post at the airport.

Don’t miss me too much haha ❤
